The Tesla Model is dominating the EV sales charts with approximately 55,000 sales above the second best selling BAIC EC-Series- an extremely popular Chinese model. The Model 3 got 7% of the EV market, while the EC-Series and Nissan LEAF each had 4%.

After the top three, follows the Tesla Model S and Model X on the 4th and 5th place. They were followed by three Chinese models and then the Toyota Prius Prime and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Tesla Model 3 among other EVs helped push the world plug-in vehicle share up to 2.1% in 2018. That makes about 30% market share.
What makes Tesla Model 3 so popular?
Firstly much comes down to value for money. The Model 3 is the safest, quickest, most autonomous and the highest tech car near its price.
Furthermore, due to its long range and super-fast charging capability, it is ready for a road trip at any time. Not many EVs are able to do that.
Lastly, consumers have found the Model 3 to be more competitive with mass-market cars like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord than you might think at first glance.
