Tesla has a new Charging station on the market, it’s one that works with other EV brands, not just Tesla vehicles. This year Tesla’s had many EV related launches, from robots to Starlink, to Space X to Boring. Elon has been busy. Now? The J1772 Wall Connector, or charging station is able to charge non-Tesla vehicles. All other electric cars will plug straight into cable provided with the station. However Tesla owners will need a SAE J1772 charging adapter, to be able to use the station. The adapter fits straight onto charging cable provided and starts the charge. Not bad news for Tesla owners, since the SAE J1772 adapter needed, is included in the purchase of a Tesla vehicle, upon delivery.
The new wall connector will be a great way to standardise non Tesla electric vehicle owners and get Tesla more involved in the overall EV market. It will make sense for those who want to install a home charging station and have more than one brand EV at home. Some loyalty from EV owners who otherwise would not have any interaction with Tesla.
Tesla Home Charging Station: J1772 Wall Connector
Note: For home installation, charging stations must be installed by a qualified technician.
Pricing of the J1772 Wall Connector is from around $550. The charging station comes with a 24 ft/ 7.3m cable, plenty of reach for any parking spot. Tesla says the station can add up to 44 miles (70 km) of range per hour. The charging station can also power-share, and automatically distribute power to allow more than one EV to charge at once. Built for either indoor or outdoor use. The stations are designed for use in a variety of places.
Our J1772 Wall Connector is a convenient charging solution for Tesla and non-Tesla electric vehicles alike, and is ideal for houses, apartments, hospitality properties and workplaces. – Tesla.
Here’s how the connector to the Tesla charging station looks:
If you are a developer, manager or owner of commercial real estate and interested in purchasing more than 12 J1772 Wall Connectors, visit Commercial Charging. Tesla says on the website that options are available for commercial/ workplace.

The electric vehicle giant company has been branching out in the past few years. CCS connectors have been added to all public supercharging stations across Europe. Last month, Tesla gave Twitter users the chance to choose supercharging stations accross the US, final suggestions were included in a poll. Great way to cope with range anxiety.
Tesla is hopefully soon adding the connectors to Supercharging stations in North America also. Recently Tesla launched a CSS Adapter, allowing tesla vehicles to charge from third party charging networks.
Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector
It’s not Tesla’s first rodeo with charging stations. Tesla has previous launched the Tesla Gen 3 Wall connector, made for Tesla owners. Both US Wall Connector Gen 3, and EU Wall Connector Gen 3 were the first charging stations available. It’s likely Tesla owners will stick to using these charging stations, since they’re a slightly lower price point than the new J1772 Wall Connector.
The Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector is compatible with Tesla Models S, 3, X and Y. The 7.3 cable length is slightly shorter. It is able to charge your electric vehicle up to twenty times faster than a household outlet. With customised power settings, the lightweight design allows for versatile indoor/ outdoor use. The connector includes a range of electrical systems. These allow you to monitor your charge with the Tesla app and receive notifications when complete.
With up to 44 miles of range added per hour of charging, a 24 foot cable length, multiple power settings, and a versatile indoor/outdoor design, Wall Connector provides unparalleled convenience. – Tesla
